Mining Heritage Showcase at the DH Lawrence Heritage Centre, Eastwood, Notts

Mining Heritage Day – Writing our History: Digging our Past, is a celebration of the East Midlands’ rich mining history and includes displays and memorabilia by enthusiasts and cultural organisations, plus talks by mining historians John Stafford and David Amos.

The event is a collaboration between the DH Lawrence Heritage Centre, the University of Nottingham and the Arts & Humanities Research Council.

thinkamigo will be showcasing elements from Arts Council England and the BBC’s digital arts platform ‘The Space’ which revisits the themes and spaces of Notts author Alan Sillitoe.

“We will be focussing on Alan Sillitoe’s references to our local mining communities”. says “Pit Man’s Son” Paul Fillingham.

The Sillitoe Trail which features archive images and the work of local writers is available from May till October 2012 via Web, Mobile, Tablet and Connected TV (Freeview 117).

The trail will be published as a book and related iPhone App in October 2012 and a digital archive will be maintained at www.sillitoetrail.com
